Black

Like a veil of midnight, caressing the form and clinging ever so gently,

Canvas of elegance and grace, embracing the mystique in every fold!

Draped in a sensuous embrace, enchanting shadows whisper secret,

Swayed in rhythm, bewitching glimpses subtle mesmerizing interplay!

Clinched soft undulation, gentle stream meandering between valleys,

Embodiment of allure, unspoken gestures exuding subtle contours!

Nestled at the centre, tender whirlpool amidst a lustrous landscape,

Drawing the gaze, curious eyes seek enigma beneath picturesque!

Echoes of the Unsaid

It is not every day do we encounter a song that leaves an indelible mark. A composition that speaks to us in ways words alone can not express. It touches the soul, invigorates latent desires, and entices us to break free from the shackles of self-imposed restraints or better yet, seek solace in a comforting denial.

'Husn' braves other classical & contemporary hits like Led Zappelin 'Babe I am gonna leave you', Cyndi Lauper 'Time After Time', U2 'With or Without You', Chris Isaak 'Wicked Game', Mazzy Star 'Fade Into You', Nirvana 'Heart Shaped Box', Coldplay 'Yellow', POTF 'Carnival of rust', Adele 'Someone like you', Billie Eilish 'When the party's over' or The 1975 'Falling for you'. The list is endless!

Prevalent and enduring across generations, the genre-defying theme has eluded scores of musicians. The appeal is timeless and universal as it taps into the most fundamental human instinct - the soaring wings of unbridled limerence. Boundless and unconstrained entwining of passion and vulnerability, weaving a poignant melody of unfulfilled desires and painful longing.

The zenith of musical expression emerges from the depth of these intense and deeply felt emotions which is raw, naked, authentic, intrusive & cathartic. Stemming from a journey of shared experience, volleying between the highs of passion and the lows of pain, it connects the artist's soul with the listener's heart. The music transforms into an ethereal echo of the soul resonating with the intricate complexities of love, lust, desire, obsession & craving.

Biologically, the amygdala and pre-frontal cortex gracefully recede while dopamine and vasopressin lead the charge. The biological symphony orchestrates a complex dance, weaving emotions & motivations into the intricate tapestry of our existence. The inexplicably raw & intense feelings, the complex emotional turmoil that shapes our desires, dreams & longings. Giving into it or not is beyond control!

"Snape's patronus was a Doe” - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

'Husn', the soul-stirring opus of unrequited love stands as a contemporary masterpiece reverberating with this bittersweet symphony of love left unreciprocated. In the melodic tapestry, every note carries the weight of uncharted emotions. Creating a hauntingly beautiful resonance that delves deep into the listener's heart.

Early on, the lyrics delve into the complexities of relationships, boldly questioning the ease with which companionship coexists between presence and absence. Delicately unwrapping the mosaic of deepest emotions, exposing the innocence & naivety inherent in the human heart - a soulful reflection of the protagonist's own susceptibility.

As the chord progresses, the lyrics paint a vivid picture of a journey. A narrative that unfolds with vulnerability and raw honesty, where melancholy meets anticipation, and the chorus reaches the crescendo of an unfiltered and unapologetic plea to embrace the intensity of affection - a plea to transcend mere physical beauty and connect at the heart's level in a dance of desire.

Inhibitions crumble beneath the weight of unfiltered emotions, laying bare a deep yearning to melt into the raw authenticity of unrestrained feelings. The bridge embodies the soul-stirring imploration to beseech the affection and passion that gracefully transitions into the final verse. Here the protagonist contemplates the significance of their presence in the grand narrative of love.

From the rising tide of lingering hope to the ebb of unfulfilled expectations and the echoing silence of a love that remains unacknowledged, the narrative unravels the protagonist's emotional landscape of desire, innocence, and vulnerabilities accompanying the pursuit of affection. An ethereal expression of lingering fear - fear of fading into insignificance and a longing for acknowledgment that, alas, may never come.

... and it didn't!

The masterpiece craftfully captures the unpredictable nature of love and the tumultuous journey of unfulfilled affection. Delving into the seductive vagaries of our most primal, automatic & unlearned behavior accompanying intense yearning. It pierces through the deepest layers of the heart and uncovers the beaten down, curled, wounded feelings and reminiscences of those bittersweet moments.

Those who know, know it, and those who don't, don't! The intricate thread of passion, craving, and the ache of a heart yearning for attachment that may never bloom. The best of our inspirations or despondency emanates from these involuntary states of fervent yearning.

A vivid and visceral portrayal of the most profound and intimate aspect of our collective human journey as experienced by the protagonist and witness alike!

Unshackle

 What's the point, in restrain!

Let the wings unfold, and shine,

through the night, onto the road.

Peace they say, well earned,

when left astray, into the wild.

Yearning

Sometimes word desire, they feel the heat on the wave.

They cry for the soul, they cry for their mate.

So long as we speak, the trembling hands bleed.

They cry for freedom, they crave for their creed.

Don't know what, but still have hope to nudge through.

It's just a long wait, till the coffee brew!

A piece of us

So many things I want to know, so much i want to share,
What is it that stopping me?

I know not, nor do I have the courage to ask.

Time flows on, hearts melt and mend,
I leave behind a piece of me and reclaim my pound of share!

The cycle continues with immaculate precision,
what's left of me, is an echo of time forgone!

why is it then the cry of new beckon eludes the heart,
an urge to climb back and fight out the pride!

A courage to love again, accept the hurt and give more

Who are we, if not possessed of the desire,
to create something beautiful, a story to live by ...

They

When they say it to the world,
it remains to be seen, what transpires out of it

They went to the world, built a fort around it,
took up the chain, forced up the sky

Seldom do they calm, fathoms of tear and rolling eyes,
soul comes to the fore, the story seems to be believed

So, when they say, love comes not but dignifies

So should they believe, the cry of laughter and the sounds of moan,
gives a far of distant hope, to achieve and to try

What cometh, that goeth ...

Happy English New Year

Juvenile mind, wondering beyond rationale.
hard to fathom or keep pace.
A brand new year in the offing,
but, no time to seek solace.

The year gone past in a jiffy,
hoping against the hope,
seeking comfort in the truth,
hands clasped, wrinkles prominent.

The bucket is topped up, to the brim.
It's all yours, for the taking.
Infuse life, with each gulp.
Fear not the taste.

Section 377

The Supreme Court of India on Dec 11th, 2013 re-criminalized “unnatural sex” or sexual encounter which is “against the order of nature”. The honorable apex court overturned the earlier judgement of Delhi High Court, which deemed Section 377 unconstitutional on 2nd July, 2009.

Section 377:

377. Unnatural offences: Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.

This broad classification encompasses Homosexuality too. The debate on Section 377 of IPC (Indian Penal Code) would never cease to amaze the thinking population and hordes alike. On one hand we observe how hypocritical the society around us behave when they witness a real life "gay" around them whilst a subset of the same crowd cry foul at the judgement, may be some amount of guilty consciousness at work here! There are also a few, who believes in "live and let live" philosophy, perfectly fine with the "others". Pour in few politicians, leaders, intellectuals and you attain a critical mass, unable to resolve the differences. This in fact is "modern". The western norm of universalism demands uniformity in thought, action and belief; leading to the social order we are so used to. "Being Different" is not the standard practice. Neither acknowledged nor encouraged.

Instead of contemplating the technicalities of the judgement let us spend some time on the backdrop of this inhuman law, enacted on 1861. For what it is worth, if we flip through the pages of history, the 18th century draconian law is actually a Victorian Rules of morality which derives from Biblical concept of immoral acts or transgression in sexuality. "Sins of Sodom in Bible caused God's curse, hence 'Sodomy'."

The created order or the natural order:

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
-- Genesis 1:27-28

The loathsome act of the people of Sodome:

"…the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter. They called to Lot, and said to him, “Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them.”
-- Genesis 19:1-13

Sins of Sodome:

"Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it."
-- Ezekiel 16:50

Interestingly though, it was not only homosexuality or men having sex with other men (the 'abomination' that is against the created order of nature or God) which led to the destruction of Sodome. There were other 'sins' too, pride, excess of food, prosperous ease, haughtiness and abomination (homosexuality, the last one).

However, as the society 'progressed', out of all the other sins, it was Homosexuality alone which suffered the wrath of "Social Order", to the extent of criminalizing the act. How so is the relevant question, although the answer remains ever elusive!
